Fix your Digestion in 3 easy ways

by Vogue Wellness on Jul 15, 2020
OVEREATING
Digestion problems Do you often suffer from digestive problems? Embarrassed by irrepressible farts? Are uncomfortable due to pain in the abdomen, heartburn, diarrhea, acidity etc. Well, there are many reasons that can trigger a digestive problem, therefore, before we can find a treatment, we must find its source. Your digestive system can become more irregular with age, but there are ways to make everything run smoothly. Generally, food is digested in the small intestine, and the gas is expelled through the mouth (belching) and anus(fart)but if some food is left undigested or the gut is not able to excrete fully, it can produce fungi, bacteria or yeast, and this can further convert to gases like methane, hydrogen, Sulphur etc. and expel as smelly flatus. Overeating, indigestion, constipation, sugar substitutes, fibre supplements, carbonated beverages are some common reasons for high acidity or gastric problems. But gastric problems can also occur due to medical conditions such as intestinal disease, small bowel bacterial growth, pancreatic and liver problems, ulcer, gallstones, colon cancer etc. Indigestion can cause heartburns, heaviness in the chest, bloating, pain and uneasiness in the abdomen. Some antibiotics can also cause swelling in the intestines and give rise to complications like acidity, heartburn, stomach bloating, gas etc. A gastric problem is uncomfortable and we must control it and get rid of it as soon as possible. Your body goes through many changes during your life, and one of the most drastic involves how your digestive system functions. Let us look at some causes of Indigestion and their home remedies: Acidity Acidity: Acidity is very troublesome. It causes diarrhea and produces stinking gas. Some acidity continues for a long time and therefore they need proper and a prolonged treatment that can last from 15 days to a full month or more. Mint leaves, jaggery, cloves, banana, almonds, lemon and yoghurt are some foods that work as an antacid and can give instant relief in acidity. Cutting down on smoking and drinking during the treatment can also help relieve acidity to a great extent. Some yoga poses like trikona and other asanas can also help in reducing acidity. Constipation Constipation: If your stools are rigid and your stomach builds up gas, then appropriate food and liquid can help you soften the motions and let them excrete. Foods like apples, prunes, pears, figs, papaya, greens, spinach, beans, peas, lentils, sweet potato, rhubarb, artichoke, citrus fruits, figs, kiwi fruit etc can help chronic constipation. Hatha yoga can also help in reducing constipation to a great extent. GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease): When whatever you eat flows back to oesophagus instead of the small intestine, gas builds up in the stomach. To relieve discomfort, people may burp a lot. Alkaline foods, high fibre foods, green vegetables and watery food can help in reducing acid reflux. For heartburn, milk, lemon water, apple cider vinegar and ginger can help to a great extent. Trikona asana can also help in reducing gas caused by GERD. Intolerance of (lactose and gluten): Bloating, abdominal pain, fatigues, headaches are common symptoms of both types of intolerance. Food with high calcium and vitamin D like the fish, oranges, almonds, broccoli, salmon, sardines, tofu, fruit juices, soy milk etc. can help people who have lactose intolerance. Navasana or the boat pose can help to build up tolerances of lactose and gluten. Conditions preventing gas movements: Dumping syndromes is a condition when food moves too quickly into the duodenum (small intestine). Adhesions, hernia, colon and ovarian cancer affect the normal movement of gas into the intestine and its emission through the anus. For conditions like bleeding, cancer, ulcer etc., surgeries are advised. So, if you have any of the above conditions, get in touch with a doctor because home remedies might not help. Unprocessed and single-ingredient food like meat, fish, eggs, citrus fruits, grains nuts, herb, spices, pickles and carbonated beverages should be avoided in all types of acidity as they aggravate the condition. Asian couple traveler with suitcases at the airport. Lover travel and transportation with technology concept. Digestion Problems and Travelling: As we have learnt that there are many reasons for digestion problems, and how we can counteract them by using home remedies, yoga and exercises, we will talk about travelling and how we need solutions that can give a result on the spot rather than the home remedies and yoga that takes a lot of time to cure digestion and are also inaccessible during travels. Taking Care of Your Digestion Let us check some natural ways and supplements that support digestion. The human body thrives on two different types of bacteria in the gut-the good and the bad. A number of factors like health, genes and age regulate the composition of the bacteria. There has to be a proper balance between both for the proper functioning of the gut and maintaining good health. A deficiency in any one of the two can cause an imbalance and give rise to problems like gas, diarrhea, stomach cramps and constipation. Balance of bacteria is important for gut health Many digestive processes rely on a balance of various bacteria, which are found naturally in the gastrointestinal tract. If these bacteria fall out of balance, gastrointestinal disorders may occur, possibly including IBS. Probiotics, which are bacteria or yeast that are associated with health benefits, may help restore this balance. Most probiotics used in IBS treatment fall under two main groups: Lactobacillus and Bifid bacterium. These probiotics are thought to assist the digestive system. Among other functions, they may strengthen the intestinal barrier, assist the immune system in removing harmful bacteria, and break down nutrients. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic gut-brain disorder that can cause a variety of uncomfortable gastrointestinal symptoms including abdominal pain and diarrhea, constipation, or a mix of the two. IBS can reduce quality of life, often results in missed school or work, and can have a substantial economic impact. Although the precise cause of IBS remains unknown, recent research suggests that an imbalance in intestinal microbiota and a dysfunctional intestinal barrier may be involved in the development of IBS in some people. Because of this, methods to restore the microbiota have been explored as treatment for this condition. BIOZIP-BEST PREBIOTIC SUPPLEMENT Prebiotic & Probiotic Prebiotics are non-digestible food ingredients and their major source is dietary fiber. They are used in the gut to multiply healthy bacteria at the cost of pathogens such as clostridia and to regulate the immune system, blood clotting, aid digestion and enhance the production of valuable vitamins. Some prebiotics like starch sugar, fruit sugar, cane sugar, beet sugar grouped as Fructo oligo saccharides, lactic acid bacillus, lactobacillus rhammnosus and saccharomyces boulardii etc. are found in onion, garlic, apples, milk, honey, jam, biscuits, flours, cakes etc. and are rich prebiotics that help maintain a healthy digestive system by easing defecation. Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for you, especially for your digestive system. Probiotics are healthy bacteria and they aid digestion, improve immunity and nutrient absorption and help keep the gut clean. Yoghurt is a natural probiotic. Benefits of Prebiotics: Prebiotics are compounds in food that induce the growth or activity of beneficial microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi. Prebiotics can alter the composition of organisms in the gut microbiome. They produce healthy bacteria in the gut. Prebiotics help in gastrointestinal disorders like irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, colorectal cancer, NEC (Necrotizing enter colitis), a gastrointestinal emergency condition in premature neonates. Gut-brain condition, autism, liver hepatitis, skin, cardiovascular disease, helps in calcium absorption etc. Benefits of Probiotics: Cures children’s diarrhea, diarrhea from antibiotics, eczema inflammatory/irritable bowel disease, UTI/vaginal disease/allergies, asthma, lactose tolerance, stomach and lung infections including those of the children, mouth health, joint stiffness and traveler’s diarrhea. Should probiotics and prebiotics be taken together? The use of prebiotics and probiotics together is called microbiome therapy. You don’t need to take a prebiotic and probiotic together. You don’t need to take a prebiotic for probiotic to work but taking them together might make your probiotics more effective. Digestive enzyme supplements promise to fix everything from bloating and flatulence to heartburn and gut health. Naturally occurring digestive enzymes help break down food so we can soak up nutrients. Role of Probiotic in antibiotic Prebiotic and Probiotic combinations with antibiotic as antibiotics destroy good bacteria in the intestines too along with harmful ones leading to diarrhoea with antibiotics. So Doctor advice is required for right combination. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Do probiotics survive the stomach? Probiotics must survive in the acidic gastric environment if they are to reach the small intestine and colonize the host, thereby imparting their benefits. What vegetables are bad for your gut? High fibre vegetables like broccoli and cabbage are hard to digest. They are easier on the stomach when cooked than raw. Why are probiotics called good bacteria? Probiotics are called good bacteria because they facilitate important bodily functions like digestion. They improve immunity and nutrient absorption.
